Thesis, necromorphs and stuff like that

The heading of this post pretty much sums up how my days look. I'm now a third year student, which means I'm supposed to show my academic skills by writing a larger, scientific text. Yes, it's thesis time. As you can imagine, reading a lot of books written by great intellectuals in the field is a joy. And rephrasing and quoting their wisdom and turning it all into a large lump of text is even more fun. That's pretty much what we are told to do. Not the most fun I've ever had, but we'll see how it continues. At first I found it really easy to write (at least I'm moderately interested in the subject), almost too easy, but now I've become a bit more critical and I have some problems deciding what to include and how to structure the whole paper. Hopefully I'll manage as the deadline is at the beginning of May. So at least I still got time!

Using your brain for activities such as writing a thesis really wears out the couple of brain cells I have left up there, so occasionally (too often) I need to do stuff that calms that badboy of a brain down. And has there ever been a better way to relax than blast ugly-ass, bloodthirsty, creepy, motherfucking aliens to oblivion and beyond? Seriously? I don't think so. So Dead Space II is just what the doctor ordered. I've been drooling over this game, anticipating its release for longer than I want to admit and on Thursday it was finally released over here. Hallelujah! I've only played for two hours or so, but so far the game delivers! It's the dog's bollocks and I'm fucking mad for it. I try to savour every minute of the experience, so I don't rush from A to B just to whoop some alien ass. I actually walk around and admire the beautiful surroundings before I move on and murder another bunch of necromorphs. Not every game manages to captivate its gamer so effectively, but rest assure: Dead Space II does. It's the perfect sequel. I'm going to stop praising the game now before I overdo it.

In other news, the new gym I've signed up for is opening tomorrow, which probably means it's back to working out (Bodypump) next week. I'm looking forward to it, but I dread it at the same time as it's been a really long time since I've done it. I actually think it's 8 months since my girlfriend and I did Bodypump in Sweden! Oh, and I'm curious about the instructors...the ones in Sweden were really good! I wonder if they can ever be replaced? It remains to be seen...

Oh, and another stressor (in addition to the thesis) is the work placement thingie. Yup, I am supposed to find a place to do my work practice before I can extract my bachelor's thesis from the university. Let's hope I find something mildly interesting. Not going to rant any more about that now.

Have a great Saturday! Stay cool.

They see me rollin', they hatin'...

Yes! Victory at last. Tommy 1 - Traffic 0. I finally got my driving license at the age of 27. Who would have thunk it? Unfortunately I didn't pass the driving test the first time, which meant I had to spend more cheddar on additional driving lessons and whatnot. It hurt my wallet. Seriously. I imagined the worst possible scenario that day; failing it over and over again, spending thousands of euros on it, but today I passed the dreaded driving exam! Yes! And only two days after I failed it for the first time. Great success! :)

The reason I didn't get it the first time was mainly because I had problems with parking (came to close to another car) and apparently didn't observe my surroundings well enough. Today, however, I was better prepared and I didn't have to parallel park, which probably made it somewhat easier. I'm not saying I can't do it (because I can), but sometimes it's a bitch (or a pain in my buttholes, as Borat would say). I'm just happy I finally got it. Now I hope I won't cause too many accidents in traffic (preferrably no accidents). According to the old adage, practice makes perfect.

Honk your horn if you see me rollin' and ridin'!
