Celebrating my birthday

Getting old stopped losing its coolness when I passed 20. After that there was not really anything to look forward to; I was allowed to drive a car (not without a driving license, of course) and drink whatever poison I wanted. Thank you, laws, for granting me all these possibilities. I still enjoying celebrating my birthday in one way or another and on Tuesday I went out with Niko and Joel for a better dinner at Amarillo, a restaurant downtown. Due to the financial situation students often find themselves in, Joel was, sadly enough, not able to order anything fancy, so he embarrassed us all when he ordered magic fries for about three Euros. Even the waitress had to ask for a confirmation as she obviously couldn't believe her ears. Anyway, I guess he made up for it by flushing it all down with a manly beer.

With our bellies happy and satisfied we proceeded to the cinema to get tickets for "The Social Network". When I first heard of the Facebook movie, I was so sure it was going to be an epic fail. I mean, how the hell can you make a good movie about Facebook? Being able to do that is a feat in itself. I would probably never have gone to see the movie had it not been for all the good reviews I read about it; some people even went as far as saying it was one of the best movies of the century. The movie lasted for two hours and I think it's safe to say we all really enjoyed it. It was just so well-made; everything from the music (which really surprised me personally) to the dialogue and characters. So there you have it folks; go see it! Three guys in their twenties can't be wrong. It gets the"approved by Tommy, Niko & Joel" stamp!

At this point it was getting late and since all of us had stuff to do the following day, we decided not to wreak havoc in town on this particular night. Niko, however, convinced us to go to the Irish pub downtown for a beer in my honor. It was a great idea and rarely has a Newcastle Brown Ale tasted so good. Apparently one beer is all it takes for your brain to tell you that you should get more, and go out and party. Luckily one isn't a complete retard after one beer, so we still ended up going home after a cold one. I need to stress that we went to our respective homes (except for the guys, who share a flat) and our separate beds and that we didn't end up sleeping together. Getting older isn't synonymous with changing one's sexual orientation.

It was a great night and I'm happy I could count on the guys for company and fun as my girlfriend was out of town. Had they not been here, I have a feeling I'd be sitting at home with a bottle of coke playing Starcraft II or Mass Effect II.
